Salvation by Grace

This teaching starts by focusing on the comparison of 2 men made by Jesus in Luke 18:9-14. One a Pharisee (meaning separated one), he was a very religious person and a Publican (Tax Collector), tax collectors were known to be very evil, sinful people who cheated and defrauded people. collecting taxes by any means they could, much of what they collected went directly into their own pockets. You could not imagine any greater contrast of character than these to men. It is very interesting what Jesus said about each of them in relation to how God views them and their approach to him.

We are talking about Salvation by Grace. Grace is a wonderful word, in the Greek language grace is the word “Charis”, an accepted definition of grace is this: the free, unmerited favour of God toward people who don’t deserve it. There is another word in Greek, “charisma”, it means a specific manifestation or form of God’s grace, and this tax collector found justification, right standing, before God as a gift.
